Vegeterian Tips: Most restaurants nowadays have vegetarian options available right on the menu. If not, ask your server if there is something that can be made for you. If you are at a more upscale restaurant, the chef will most likely be willing to whip up something for you, as it shows their talents and feeds their ego.

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2-3 Tbls fresh grated ginger root (there”s no such thing as too much ginger)
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic (ditto to the above)
  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup vegan brown sugar
  • you can add a dollop of whiskey if desired

Directions:

Combine all ingredients.

Use as a marinade for tofu, (if
you really like the flavor to be intense, freeze tofu first,
or if you want it to be not as strong, don”t freeze it or
you”ll be overwhelmed) or as sauce to stir-fry veggies (like
broccoli or green beans YUM!). This was originally for meat
but it”s better this way. Can be used to add flavor
to Harvest Burgers, or whatever kind of veggie burgers you
like, spoon on as desired while cooking. This is really an
awesome sauce and my daughter converted her boyfriend to
liking grated ginger root with it.

Ingredients can easily be multiplied for as many servings as
necessary. Just remember equal parts water and soy
sauce, adjust other ingredients to taste. It”s a great
vegan summer barbeque recipe. Try it with Jo Mama”s pasta
salad, recipe on the way.
